This video demonstrates a house designed to be impregnable to floods, hurricanes, and tunnel termites. The living shaded roof offers a cool recreation area that will lower air conditioning costs. Another option is to use the surface area of the roof as a rain collector. For a cistern for drinkable water or to sore a grey water for toilet flushing and for irrigation.
Place the A/C compressor there and use the condensate to water your roof cover plants.
The "hurricane noise" blocked my words, but I am confident that the video is self explanatory.
On second thought, it may be possible to build this house using wood frame construction instead of concrete.
Fort Pierce, Florida was directly hit by Hurricanes Frances and Jean. I did not observe damages other than flooding and roof destruction. (I lost my roof)
